International Business graduates will find job opportunities in accounting, marketing, finance, and management with corporations engaged in international business activities. 听They may also find opportunities in government and education. 听Students will also be prepared for graduate work in business or in liberal arts and language studies are also possible choices.

Each day the United States forges stronger economic links to the global economy, making a knowledge of international business essential in meeting the challenges and competition of the global marketplace. Internationalism is a core pillar of the 麻豆传媒 mission. The International Business Program prepares its students for vital roles in our interconnected world.

The International Business major at 麻豆传媒 uniquely combines specialized business skills with the liberal arts to broaden students’ perspectives and intellectual abilities. Focusing on the role of the U.S. in the international business environment, the program helps students develop a heightened awareness of the changing political and social aspects of countries around the globe.

Majors in International Business acquire the ability to analyze and understand global business operations and learn to appreciate the economic, political, and social climates of the world’s diverse regions. International corporate internships, study abroad opportunities and foreign language skills are extremely valuable aspects to the curriculum. Each student will receive close personal advisement from a faculty member, and opportunity to access these various areas.

The International Business program offers a liberal arts core, that include fundamentals of international business, introduction to macroeconomics/microeconomics, language studies, and courses in international business. Students select a concentration in one of the following business areas: management, accounting, finance, marketing, economics, or computer information systems.

This major leads to a Bachelor of Arts in International Business. While the Program is based in the Anisfield School of Business, its multidisciplinary approach draws on faculty and courses from other schools of the college.

A minor in International Business is also available to students in other majors.

The International Business faculty includes specialists in a variety of business concentrations, as well as specialists in the liberal arts. Because many of the Program’s faculty have had broad experience in the business world, both in the United States and abroad, they are able to give students both theoretical and practical aspects of their fields; all of the faculty hold doctorate degrees.

Outcome 1: Students will be able to identify and incorporate different points of view, when seeking to resolve international business-related issues.

1. Transfer students who have 48 or more credits accepted at the time of transfer are waived from the courses marked with a (W) below.听 Waivers only apply to General Education Requirements NOT School Core or Major Requirements.
2. Double counting between General Education, School Core, and Major may be possible.听 Check with your advisor to see if any apply.
3. Writing Intensive Requirement (three general education courses and participation in the ASB Business Writing Across the Curriculum (BWAC) program):听 three writing intensive courses in the general education curriculum are required: First Year Seminar, Critical Reading and Writing, and Readings in the Humanities; the rest of the Writing Intensive Requirement is met by participation in the ASB BWAC program.

5. The Career Pathways Program requirements must be completed prior to graduation.听 Visit the听Cahill Career Center/ASB Office.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MAJOR

Note: Some required courses in school cores and majors also satisfy certain General Education categories. Check with your advisor to see which courses may fulfill more than requirement. Double majors within the ASB are not permitted, except for Economics. Students who have a primary major offered from a school other than ASB and are contemplating a second major within the ASB must consult an ASB advisor for guidelines. A 2.0 GPA in the major is required for graduation.

1. At least 1/2 of the courses fulfilling a minor must be distinct from the student鈥檚 major. That is, three of the five courses required for a minor cannot be used towards fulfillment of major requirements. A school core does not need to be completed for a minor. Minors are open to students regardless of school affiliation.
