{"id":2829,"date":"2025-07-15T13:21:32","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T17:21:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/student-accounts\/?page_id=2829"},"modified":"2026-05-13T13:47:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T17:47:16","slug":"title-iv-authorization","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/student-accounts\/title-iv-authorization\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Title IV Authorization"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row colSet\">\n<div class=\"sColumn col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-8\">\n<p>Federal student aid regulations require that Federal Title IV funds are used for authorized allowable educationally-related charges such as tuition, mandatory fees, room and board (if living on campus) and up to $200 of prior-year institutional charges.<\/p>\n<p>Allowable charges that can be paid by Title IV aid include tuition, mandatory fees, room and board.\u00a0 Charges that are <strong><em>non-allowable<\/em><\/strong> but <strong><em>can be<\/em><\/strong> paid by Title IV money <strong><em>with authorization<\/em><\/strong> include but are not limited to fees such as health insurance, parking, bookstore vouchers, miscellaneous fees, etc. Non-allowable charges that can <strong><em>never<\/em><\/strong> be paid by Title IV aid, <strong>even with authorization <\/strong>include late fees, certain fines and penalties, and payment plan fees.<\/p>\n<p>If you <strong>do not authorize<\/strong> the use of Federal funds to pay non-allowable, educationally-related charges, <strong>you will be responsible to pay for the balance; Enrolled students with a valid FAFSA on file will be notified via email from the Financial Aid Office to complete the Title IV Authorization process. The process includes accepting or declining the online Title IV Authorization question on the student\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.elluciancloud.com\/rconj\/\">RCNJ Experience<\/a>. If authorized, only then the Office of Student Accounts will apply Title IV funds to non-allowable, educationally-related charges accordingly. The authorization will be effective for the duration of student\u2019s enrollment at Â鶹´«Ã½; however, student can change or rescind it at any time. As far as previous-year institutional charges, all charges (except late fees and payment plan fees) up to $200 on your student account for the previous year are available to be paid by Title IV funds. Other non-allowable, educationally related charges such as parking fees, fines and certain residence life charges, book advances, and health insurance fees will remain unpaid. <em>You will have to pay these charges out-of-pocket with your own funds, they will not simply go away.<\/em> These unpaid charges can result in a $200 late fee and\/or a financial hold on your account that would prevent you from registering for classes.
