The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Upward Bound Math Science Program is a Federal TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.\u00a0 The grant assists low-income students from Paterson public high schools and those with parents who have not attained a bachelor’s degree.<\/p>\n
The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Upward Bound Math Science\u00a0Program gives support to high school students with\u00a0college potential. It is our goal to guide these\u00a0students to successfully complete high school\u00a0with the background and skills necessary to\u00a0pursue post-secondary education in the areas of\u00a0STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cost:<\/strong> Free<\/p>\n Duration: <\/strong>3 years<\/p>\n For Paterson, NJ High School Students Only<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Employment Opportunities<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n Volunteer Opportunities<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n UBMS Application for Parents and Students<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n Participants are expected to stay in the program from the time he or she is admitted until graduation from high school. This includes attending each summer session and all monthly Saturday sessions after acceptance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n This program is designed to serve students who have the ability to go to college and are willing to put in the work required to get there and succeed. It will benefit the student who may have trouble getting into college because of limited financial or educational resources that puts him or her at a disadvantage when competing with more affluent peers attending well financed suburban or private schools.<\/p>\n In order to be a part of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Upward Bound program, a student must<\/b>:<\/p>\n It costs NOTHING! All necessary supplies, books, room and board, and transportation will be provided for by Âé¶¹´«Ã½. Summer:<\/h4>\n

Participants spend six weeks during the summer living on the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ campus and taking specially designed courses in science, math, language arts, computer skills, foreign language, and problem solving skills.<\/li>\nExpectations:<\/h4>\n
Selection and Eligibility<\/h3>\n
The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Upward Bound Math Science Program is funded to accept approximately 20 new students each year.\u00a0 Participants are selected based upon their school record, teacher recommendations, interviews, and eligibility according to federal guidelines.<\/p>\nEligibility Guidelines<\/h3>\n
