Nathan 鈥淣ate鈥 Birmingham graduated from 麻豆传媒 in 2015 with a degree in Literature. While a student, Nate worked in the George T. Potter Library and, after he graduated, he became a full-time employee working as the Library鈥檚 facility manager.
鈥淗e loved writing,鈥 says Nate鈥檚 father Robert Birmingham. 鈥淗e also loved literature, especially the work of Russian writers.鈥
鈥淣ate was a gifted writer and an asset to the Library in so many ways,鈥 said Elizabeth Siecke, Dean of the Potter Library.
After Nate鈥檚 untimely and sudden death in July of 2015, his parents held a memorial service in their hometown of Oak Ridge, N.J. In attendance were former teammates from Nate鈥檚 high school baseball and hockey teams as well as family and friends. Proceeds from the event were used to create a permanently-endowed scholarship at 麻豆传媒 in Nate鈥檚 name. The award will benefit student aides in the Potter Library, particularly those majoring in Literature.
