Saiff President Saiff welcomed everyone to the spring semester. He announced that the faculty assembly will use paper ballots instead of voice vote. Further he made an announcement about the Dinner Lecture Series and called upon Councilor Morley to provide further details about the Dinner Lecture Series. Dinner Lecture Series: J. Morley Councilor Morley provided a brief introduction about the Dinner Lecture Series. The first lecture of the Dinner Lecture Series is scheduled on the 18th February, 2009. The talk is at 4 p.m. in the Pavilion followed by a reception and a dinner at 5:30 p.m. Faculty will receive an email with more details about the speaker. The unit representatives on the faculty assembly executive council will collect signups from faculty members in their units. The contribution or ticket for the dinner is $20. ARC Report: L. DAntonio Two programs, new (revised) Honors program and MA Educational Leadership program approved by ARC were presented to the Faculty Assembly for its vote. Lawrence DAntonio presented the new Honors Program. M. Vides mentioned the names of the members of the advisory board (B. Roy, J. Morley, E. Weiner, P. Keaton, B. Langer, and S. Eisner) and added that proposed program is being developed on an ongoing basis and each year the highlights of the following year of the program will be launched. The Honors Program advisory board will contact Deans and faculty members regarding the issues related to staffing and structuring of courses. Lawrence DAntonio then presented the Master (MA) in Educational Leadership program and also informed the Faculty Assembly about the pilot online submission of program and course proposals. The results of the vote were as follows: Revised Honors Program - 90 yes, 7 no and 11 abstain; Masters in Educational Leadership - 98 yes, 6 no and 6 abstain. Reports from Faculty Representatives to BOT Committees: Capital Improvements - Eric Weiner reported on the approval of concept for replacing the roofs of G building and the Student Center. Union Report: I. Kuchta President Kuchta reported that the Council of NJ State College Locals has denied Governor Office request to reopen the Contract. The current Contract is in effect until 2011.
