You will be able to form friendships and create partnerships with community organizations, on and off-campus. In addition, you are introduced to many leadership opportunities through a variety of campus organizations and clubs.<\/p>\n<p>Students who complete the LIS summer session are able to attend monthly workshops during the academic year covering topics on civic engagement, leadership development, and skill-building.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn about the impact of civic engagement &amp; how to get involved in your community<\/li>\n<li>Develop leadership skills as an incoming first-year student<\/li>\n<li>Become active in the Ramapo community as a primary step toward future success<\/li>\n<li>Make a difference within community service and civic leadership events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>What should I know about LIS?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>First-year students and transfer students are eligible to apply for LIS.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Applications will open on Monday, June 1st.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>This application closes on Wednesday, July 22nd. You should expect to hear back no later than Monday, July 27th.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Leaders in Service 2026 will begin at <strong>5<\/strong><strong>:00 PM on<\/strong><strong> Tuesday, August 18th,<\/strong> and <strong>conclude on Sunday, August 23rd, at noon.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The fee for Leaders in Service is $75<\/strong>. This fee covers the opening reception\/dinner on the first evening for you and 2 guests, all of the activities during the program, all meals, your LIS t-shirt, and water bottle, and monthly activities. Payment should be sent by check after you are notified of acceptance and should arrive at campus by August 7th.<em> If this fee is a barrier to your participation, please reach out to ccec@ramapo.edu<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Although Leaders in Service is limited in the number of students we can accept, there are ample opportunities for every member of the first-year class and transfer students to learn more about and exercise leadership and engage meaningfully with our college and the wider community.
