Incorporating direct embodied experience into academic discourse. This minor is emblematic Ramapo\u2019s vision of interdisciplinary, experiential, international and intercultural learning.<\/p>\n<p>As an interdisciplinary minor, Contemplative Studies serves as a rich Liberal Arts compliment to any major or professional training.\u00a0 The minor is divided between 4 required core areas (12 credits) and two electives (8 credits) that integrate with other Liberal Arts majors and professional preparations such as psychology, social work, business, medicine, law, geriatrics, education, nursing and environmental studies.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Outcomes for the Minor<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p>The central objective of the program is to provide interested students with a comprehensive cultural and historical understanding of contemplative practice and the skills to employ contemplation as a tool throughout their life.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Goal 1: Students will develop proficiency in intra-personal reflective skills.\n<ul>\n<li>Outcome 1: Students reflective assignment will display self-knowledge by clearly representing perception of sensations, emotions and thoughts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Goal 2: Students will develop proficiency in interpersonal communication skills.\n<ul>\n<li>Outcome 2.1: Students will document and analyze difficult interpersonal communication and suggest more effective strategies for resolving difficulties. (<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Goal 3: Students will explore ethical standards in their actions, words and thoughts.\n<ul>\n<li>Outcome 31: Student will discuss ethical issues and their effects on the common good.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Requirements of the Minor<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ol>\n<li>Courses fulfilling the requirements for the primary or second major may count towards the requirements of the minor, but may not exceed one-half of the credits required in the minor.
